With the majestic Andes Mountains as backdrop, Estancia Nibepo Aike offers an authentic Patagonian experience away from mass tourism. This daily excursion (October to April) departs from El Calafate at 9:00 or 17:00 hs, traveling along the scenic "Camino de las Estancias" where you may spot foxes, hares and condors before crossing Río Rico and entering Parque Nacional Los Glaciares.
At this 12,000-hectare estate - symbol of Patagonian ranching tradition - visitors are welcomed at the quincho with hot drinks and homemade pastries, enjoying the impressive mountain landscape. The experience continues with a walk through the facilities including the renowned Hereford cabin, views of Brazo Sur del Lago Argentino with its glacial changes, and native forests inhabited by caracaras, woodpeckers and eagles.
The tour leads to the shearing shed to witness traditional wool shearing and packing demonstrations. Depending on weather and season, guests may participate in rural activities like morning milking or afternoon sheep herding.
The day culminates at the quincho with exquisite Patagonian lamb accompanied by stories of the place's history. For those choosing the additional horseback ride (3 hours), a guide will take them through scenic trails adapting the route to weather and riders' skill.
