Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in El Calafate and transfer to El Chaltén
Arrival at El Calafate airport and transfer to El Chaltén. During this day, we will explore the town and meet our guides for the next three days. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 2: Full-day trek from Los Huemules Reserve to Loma del Diablo and Laguna Cóndor Lodge
Full-day trek from Los Huemules Reserve, 20 km from El Chaltén, following the winding Río de las Vueltas trail. We will hike up Loma del Diablo through a forest of lenga and ñire trees with views of the glaciers. After gaining altitude on steep terrain, the reward will be seeing the mountains in all their grandeur. Overnight at Laguna Cóndor Lodge.
Day 3: Full-Day Trek – Laguna de los Tres, Fitz Roy, and Camp Poincenot
Start the day on the renowned Hostería El Pilar trail in Los Glaciares National Park. The route leads through lush lenga forests, skirting the Río Blanco and passing the Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint. As you continue, marvel at ever-changing views of the iconic Cerro Fitz Roy. Your goal is Laguna de los Tres, offering the most stunning vantage point of Fitz Roy and one of Patagonia’s most remarkable sights. After soaking in the scenery, descend back to Camp Poincenot for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Full-Day Trek – Madre-Hija Valleys and Laguna Torre – Return to El Chaltén
Head towards the scenic Madre and Hija valleys, leaving Fitz Roy behind. This gentle trek through a picturesque valley leads to Cerro Torre. Follow the Fitz Roy River downstream, crossing a massive glacial moraine to arrive at Laguna Torre, where you’ll enjoy a peaceful lunch with a stunning view of the Glacier Grande. If conditions allow, continue to the Mirador Maestri for a closer look at the glacier. Conclude the day by trekking back through the Río Fitz Roy Valley to El Chaltén for the night.
Day 5: Transfer to El Calafate
After breakfast, at the scheduled time, you’ll be transferred back to El Calafate or to the airport to catch your return flight.
